Fuel and Energy Business Division

Coal is a resource of ever-increasing importance, both in Japan and throughout the world. We will continue to develop and expand our coal businesses as the core of our company’s operations. This division of Mitsui Matsushima is comprised of two businesses.

Coal Mine Development Business

This business is managed by Mitsui Matsushima International Pty, Ltd., which is based in Sydney. Mitsui Matsushima closed its coal mine in Japan in 2001 and moved its operations base overseas, focusing on the Liddell coal mine in Australia. Currently we are expanding our global operations to Canada, Indonesia and other countries. From here on, we will utilize the knowledge and high-level mining technology gained through nearly a century of domestic mining operations and develop even more dynamic services.

Coal Sales Business

Using our global information network, we purchase coal from suppliers other than our coal mines in China, Canada, Indonesia and other countries, and sell the coal to customers in Japan and throughout the world. These operations are handled by our Fuel and Energy Business Division.
Our Coal Mine Development Business is positioned as upstream distribution, while our Coal Sales Business flows downstream. These two businesses serve as the wheels that move our Fuel and Energy Business Division forward. We hope to continue our contributions to the stable supply of coal.

Construction Material Business Division

This division handles operations focused on proposals, sales, and installation for basic construction material such as ready-mixed concrete, housing-related equipment, unit bath systems, and building-related facilities such as multistory car parks. Recently we have also focused our energies on planning and development of original, value-added products, including highly durable flooring materials, natural stones, artificial stones, artificial marble, and wood fittings. We are creating new products that help enrich the homes and lives of our customers.

Real Estate Business Division

This division leases buildings, condominiums and land and helps companies optimize use of their real estate holdings. In Fukuoka, Tokyo and other urban areas, we have launched to the real estate market as Pine Brand Building Series, Pine Brand Condominium Series, and Villurage Series of real estate offerings. Our efforts have earned us both experience and trust. From here on, we will continue to provide our customers with safe and comfortable living and working environments to fulfill their needs.
